Mrs C has to cook for them every time! So many people living in each other’s pockets at home and work isn’t very healthy, is it?

I actually think its a good thing. Chambers can keep an eye on Lankester, give him advice and steer him in the right direction. With many young players it's when they are living on their own, have too much time on their hands and have surplus cash burning a hole in their pocket things start to go wrong. Good move skipper!

Having meals together like that breeds a familial cohesion which will serve us well on the pitch. The better the squad know each other, the better instinctual understanding they will have when playing. All part of team building, in other words. Plus reducing issues of homesickness in a bunch of teenagers and youths.

It’s Mrs Chambers I feel sorry for. Or do they have a maid? Or does Robin Askwith join the scenario at some point?

'The Chambers Family And The Lads' has all the potential of At Home With The Magiltons.... Every time Mrs Chambers prepares a particularly nice lasagne, Luke runs the length of the dining room and fist pumps.
