Will the Change UK party be the shortest lived political group ever? 18:01 - May 24 with 7025 viewspickles110564

When BOJO becomes Prime minister he might call for a GE which would mean Sourface, Chukka and the rest will lose their seats.

I would stay up all night just to see their faces when they lose.

Following on from another thread, if there are mass resignations from the Tory Party should the wrong Johnson get the PM gig, followed by loads of their MPs switching to ChangeUK then they may take over government without even needing a General Election...

if johnson gets in, he'll cleave off a lot of the more sensible tories, so he'll be fighting with farage's lot for the scraps of the remaining leave vote.

that leaves a massive gap in the middle with a leadereless lib dems, stranger things have happened!

Agree on Chuka. Soubry will hopefully retain her seat though.

Whatever else she might be, she is honest and principled.

Truly impaired.

Nope she voted for Article 50 and understood that if no deal agreed we would leave without one.

I understand that but the government's own forecasts suggest we will be worse off in every Brexit scenario. Is she supposed to stand by and let it happen? All she is asking for is a confirmation referendum asking if we still want to do this. Can you honestly say that is unreasonable?

Truly impaired.

The referendum should be the deal may agreed or no deal

The Withdrawal Agreement is basically a divorce paper, namely part one. What happens if the House cannot agree on the subsequent Trade deal - a further referendum between the options?

the may deal's dead.

it has to be the new pm's deal (or no deal crash out depending on who wins) vs. revoke.

it's not impossible to have a 3rd option as long as stv is used and all options are clearly deliverable and not boris-style unicorns!

As much as I wouldn't support No Deal I think it should be up to the people to take it off the table should it go to a refendum rather than the politicians.

i (also reluctantly) agree, that'd be the other option vs revoke if boris gets in and the 3rd option if someone ploughs on with the current deal (or somehow gets a new one)

I'm an advocate of Deal v No Deal v Remain in a legally binding referendum with single transferrable vote - get it sorted for once and for all. As I said above I wouldn't support the Withdrawal Agreement being the 'Deal' option as it's only part one and we'd still have the Trade deal discussions taking over everything.

The quickest option would be take one of the current trade deals on the table, either Common Market 2, Canada style, Norway style or Customs Union, put all to the House and the number with the most Ayes gets put to the vote with Remain and No Deal.

What I don’t understand is why all you Brexit types are still so angry and bitter about everything.

As you all keep telling us, you won, and yet you still seem to be entirely consumed with hatred and bile for anyone who isn’t exactly the same as you.

It’s almost as if you’re entirely defined by what you hate and have a complete vacuum where there should be a positive vision for what the future looks like.

I genuinely feel sorry for you, so much hatred and bile must be eating you up inside and you clearly won’t be any happier at all even if the unicorns are the exact shade of pink that you were promised.

And the UK parliament cannot bind its successors. Parliament voted against a no deal and also voted against May’s Deal and a second referendum so we’re now back to where we started.

You lot only seem to want ‘ parliamentary sovereignty’ when it suits you

It's more a 'you can't really place a numerical value on abstract concepts but the average UK worker would be considerably poorer served without them, now stop trying to justify your support for these neo-liberal loons on the basis of some nebulously vague idea of 'socialism" value.

Maybe you should shape the narrative rather than being defined by what you are against. I do not support neo liberal loons. If more on the left had the honesty to call a sh1t show a sh1t show then reform rather than destruction may have been a realistic option and the right would not be calling the shots.

I’m confused as to how that relates to my point?

The EU are very far from perfect, but still much better than anything at Westminster. I believe the future of this country is far brighter by working with other nations to improve the lives of the most vulnerable and tackle huge issues such as climate change.

Do you think the rise of Boris, the Nige and his Brexit Party will help with those things?
