Bolton Game could be in doubt 10:48 - Mar 16 with 5982 viewstractorboy7777

Potentially going into liquidation in the next week now the planned take over is off!

I think all the points of a liquidated team should go to the team below that club in the table

As sad as it would be to see any club get liquidated, there's some spectacular arrogance going on there:

For all our flaws, we're a founder member of the Football League and would be by a million miles the biggest English club to go to the wall in recent memory.

It'd be a massive story and a damning indictment of the EFL. They'd want to slide us back in at a decent-ish level sharpish.

No way we'd be pissing around with pub teams and the like.

Read another comment stating they'd never end up in the national league because they'd take too many fans to games with them, and other clubs would be unable to cope...

Losing our point from the drawn game against them could prove costly ...

Top three would all lose six points

West Brom would lose three

Would liven up the top of the table a tad

Same thing happened to Cheltenham back in the old GM Vauxhall Conference days when Newport went to the wall, lost 6 points and narrowly avoided relegation because of it.

On the bright side, they picked up 2 of Newport's best players for free.

It is sad to see famous old clubs potentially disappearing - and all because one company, seeking monopolistic control, turned a national sport into an inflation-crippled greed fest. Aided and abetted by administrators on fat salaries (or, at an internatonal level, in receipt of corrupt payments).

I feel sorry for the fans but my sympathy is limited towards the club - it's not as though they didn't spend on wages over the summer with the likes of Magennis, Hobbs, Lowe, Donaldson, Murphy, Oztumer, Grounds and Olikowski coming in. If they didn't have the funds why spend so much on additional wages?

also, not sure why it would be a damning indictment of the EFL. Bolton have continually overspent, neglected to pay their taxes and now it's time to pay the bills. Fook 'em.

I know we're not supposed to like them, but one of by best mates from uni is a Bolton fan and I've been to a few of their matches down the years. Their fans are just like ours. Supporting their local team, getting that escape from everyday life like watching Ipswich does for us. It would be a shame for them and football if they went under.

As much as I wish someone would take this club off Marcus Evans, it does put his ownership in perspective.

He’s banned the local chief footballer from attending home matches. How on earth did the EFL pass him as person fit enough to run a football club, he was banned as company director for doing exactly what he is doing at Bolton.

Anderson was disqualified from being a company director for eight years from October 12, 2005 for transgressions involving his firm Professional Sports Internaonal Ltd (PSI) plus seven other “previously failed companies”.
The disqualificaon noce states: “Mr Anderson diverted/sought to divert PSI's funds by deposing them into a personal bank account in his own name and invoicing the name of another connected company.” It adds that he failed to deal with PSI's VAT affairs and to co-operate with the administrave receiver.

If Bolton go into liquidation before the end of this season. Would another club then be relegated in place of them? ( hopes it’s Reading !)

Good question i suppose that if they disappear from the league list then the next team up would drop down a place.

No, I think...
Championship: 2 go down, 1 ceases to exist.
League one: 3 go up, 3 go down.
League two: 4 go up 1 go down

The league changes with Bolton not in it. Current positions unaltered, so you can see movement yourself.

If Bolton go out of business, 2 teams will be relegated from the Championship with three coming up as normal to bring the Championship back to 24 clubs. Three teams will be relegated from League 1 (instead of four) with four promoted from League 2 to keep League 1 at 24 clubs. Only 1 team would be relegated from League 2 (instead of 2) It would also have a knock on effect in National League and National North

Good to see that the EFL or FAs "fit and proper person" checks went so swimmingly then.
