I was surprised at Lambert’s comment that the academy teams don’t play in the way he would like. I always thought that they played a very progressive passing game. Can someone who watches them regularly enlighten me please?

Cheers, but that doesn’t really answer my question.

Academy sides tend to play 4141 at the higher age groups, but still a fair amount of 442 in the lower age groups - more of a slower passing style with a bit more tiki taka on display in the younger groups from limited amount I've seen

I haven't seen a lot of the youth teams, but as Joe said, tend to play 4-4-2 possession football. We need all age groups to play the same system so when they do make the step up, they know how and where to play.

It was very noticeable the game I saw at Reading when Klug was in charge they certainly not playing McCarthy style football.

And also, what is Lamberts way of playing? Has he specified the philosophy yet?

Giving opposition a 2 goal start I believe is at the heart of it

Wasn't that 5 or 6 years ago now, people keep mentioning it but how many of those lads are still at the club?

It's time to make the best of it.

Surely the under-13s aren't likely to come through to first team with the same manager as incumbent?
