Gerken - Self explanatory. Bart needs to come out of the firing line, and Gerken is always good for a few games - before inexplicably having errors in him 6/7 games down the line. Happens EVERY TIME.
Spence - I don't think Donacien will play another minute for us. We're trying our best to make sure this deal doesn't become permanent.
Chambers + Pennington - sadly the best we have at CB
Knudsen - likewise, the best we have at LB
Skuse - best sitter
Bishop - providing fit, will add a bit of drive to CM
Downes - better than Chalobah interms of keeping the ball, offer a shield to back 4 freeing up Bish
Sears LM - we have one partnership working well. Knudsen + Sears
Lankaster RM - Better positional sense than Edwards who quite literally is a passenger from a defensive perspective
Roberts - Makes the ball stick uptop more than Jackson. IF Harrison is fit enough, perhaps time for Harrison to have a go as the CF.

Sadly, you're right with many of your reasons Currie. I have to say, I would start Donacien at right back. He's not the most effective attacking wise, but seems to defend better than Spence. Also, if Harrison is fit enough for 60 minutes, I'd start him too. The Town squad is what is at the moment and Lambert is having to turn a pig's ear into a silk purse. I'm sure PL will want to prove a few people wrong at Stoke, but he couldn't have handpicked such a weak squad to prove that point!!! Even with all the tinkering, it will result in another comfortable home win ala Forest last Saturday. [Post edited 4 Dec 2018 9:03]

I agree with the lineup, if not the reasoning.
I don't think that we're trying to stop Donacien from joining at all. Lambert thinks he is a centre half, and right now Chambers and Pennington are the best two centre halfs without a doubt. Therefore he is having to wait. That's all there is to it.
Bishop should play definitely, as should bringing Downes back in. He will have benefited from the rest. |  |

Surely if he's to be given a permit, he needs to have played a %%% of games to qualify for one.
Currently - he's not doing that.
I'm convinced this is a factor behind him not playing a minute of late. | | | |

I'd go with that too.
Bart v Gerken is a 50/50, but perhaps Lambert needs to think further down the line about what he'll need for the rest of the season. I think we need a confident and in-form Bart this season so however we get there is fine by me. |  |

It's not a work permit he's waiting for it's permanent leave to remain, it'll have nothing to do with whether he's playing. They've also been advised that it will be granted without a problem. And I'd be very surprised if there was any way out of the deal agreed with Accrington. |  | | |
