Trains are the biggest rip off in Britain. Feel so sorry for tourists who arrive at Stansted or Heathrow only to find out they need to pay £50 for a train to the city. |  |

True that. To be fair I think TFL is good value. £3.50 or whatever it is to get the tube into London from Heathrow is pretty good. Stansted is the biggest joke as there's little alternative. We seem to be the only country in Europe that has such ridiculous train travel pricing. Price per mile is ludicrous, then people wonder why the roads are so busy. I was in Italy a few months ago, got on a rapid train about 400 km down the country, didn't pre book so just turned up and bought it on the day for about 7 euros. Would've been an £60+ trip over here minimum. |  |
