Well in the end, Marcus will get what was coming too him. After the first few years when we weren't promoted that was curtains. He now knows he cant buy him self out of the league with more and more clubs having parachute payments, better quality players or more risk takers. so we are stranded getting worse and worse as seasons drift on until the inevitable happens when we are relegated. You cannot build a competitive team in this league from scratch, you can have a team that is greater than the sum of its parts who works as a unit that will generally nullify a possible lack of individual ability but as Hurst found out it cannot be done in this league where as Sears said it is a mini premier league at the top. It can be done in the lower league if money is spent as Hurst found out and as Lambert done with Norwich but it will take Evans keeping all of the good academics and youth players in house, not selling any more and buying big in the league below. Hopefully then after a season of competing and winning your confidence back then maybe it will compete with the big spenders of this league after promotion? Its the only way i can see this working apart from staying a float with journey man each season playing MIcma style. | |
