Referee today 18:26 - Jun 24 with 1668 views

Not read all the threads today, so may already have been covered.

I thought the ref had a tough assignment today, but had a very very good game. Two penalties in one half must be extremely rare, and I lived neither needed VAR.

On the last one, perhaps we were fortunate to see the first goal stand, given that Young held Stones marker for long enough for him to get a free run in the box. But I don’t hold the ref responsible for that, I’d have expected VAR to have highlighted it.

He should have issued more cards. Their Captain in particular seemed to have multiple warnings.

Missed an elbow into Lingard's head early on and gave them the Free Kick.

Other than that he did well.

Maybe but good to see Ref being strong and perhaps sends out warning that wrestling in penalty area isn't acceptable. We should have had penalty in first game and because ref ignored it only gave them license to carry on.
It'll be interesting to see if managers are prepared to allow their players to continue or see more penalties!
Hopefully FA will take note and cut it out in our leagues as it's getting too much with refs turning blind eye.
