Pol Pot was effective!
He's making less of a pig's ear than he did of his last gig. He's obviously worked on his media front as he's a number of high profile, popular policies he's championing. Plastics is one, as they mention. Bees and pesticides the other.
I don't know how genuine he is. Plastics certainly he could be accused of jumping on the bandwagon. It's an easy win and he did little before David Attenborough highlighted it, despite the issue being well known in environmental circles. Pesticides has been an EU push.
But he's also head of the government arm that says they're 'green' yet supports fracking, has rolled back support on renewables and is about to oversee a brain drain on tidal energy (we've been here before; lack of clarity on policy meant we went from world leaders in biofuels and wind to also-rans).
He comes across as a devious coward. He may be an effective one, but that's not good news if their policies aren't as green as they claim. |  |
