For those who went today.... 21:23 - Apr 28 with 2022 viewsRocky

Mick tended to defend 1-0 leads too deeply and brought everyone back.
Was there an attempt by Klug to keep more of an attacking option on the counter?
Or were we just lucky in the last 20 minutes?

We kept pressing and looking to get at them. The difference in how we looked to play out from the back, keeping the ball (mainly) on the deck was refreshing. Nydam could be quite a player for us he was everywhere, the amount of clearing headers he won when he is about 4'2" was fantastic.

Woolfenden looked very assured too, always looked to give the ball to the nearest player in space rather than just bang it towards the corner flag.

Don't think we've often had the benefit of playing such a crumbly team as Reading today.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I suppose it was a case of one of those freak end of season games where the opposition has one eye on their holidays

Given Reading's position, they shouldn't have been that complacent though?

The question remains how they managed to make the play-offs last season

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I don't think they were complacent, so much as jittery. Then, as the game started to go against them, went to pieces.

To be fair, we did make a defensive sub at 1-0 up, Gleeson came on for... someone, i forget who. Though I loved seeing sears do what sears does best, gobbling up poached goals. Despite starting slow when he came on, I think that is the best I've seen Sears play all season, even had he not scored he played well.

Folami, wasn't it? Who had been working his heart out all game to that point.

Right you are (apparently not), all the young'uns put a good account of themselves in today, and proven that the Crystal Palace game wasnt a fluke. Come what may Evans now MUST get a gaffer in who works with youth as a core philosophy - Wolfenden was a stand out player against Palace, and should have gone on loan to a much higher club than Luton, if at all. Roll on next season.

Gleeson came on for Nydam. Folami was replaced by Cotter.

The Gleeson sub made total sense as we were running out of gas in the middle.

I agree with you, I just had to bring things into perspective a bit, as Klug made the subs much like MM would have to sit on a lead, the difference was the team actually still played like a team wanting more vs a team who were parking the bus.

Bit of both. Under Mick, we would have drawn 1-1 or lost 1-2. He would never have allowed a FB to attack when we were a goal up so late. (Tbf, we'd have won or drawn at Forest under Mick).

Yes we hit them on the break, but I got the sense that our players were enjoying the freedom.
