Speed skating 12:45 - Feb 20 with 1041 views

This sport seems to be a bit of a farce, in almost every race I've seen someone gets disqualified, and most of the time no one seems to know why, including the ex speed skater they have commentating on the BBC !

This really spoils the spectacle for me, wouldn't it be better if the ran it like the cycling where the skaters started on opposite sides of the track, and it was truly down to speed ?

Yes, short track seems to be a bit of a lottery in the pursuit of a racing spectacle. The longer form discipline is lot more like pursuit cycling although the two competitors start in the same place in different lanes and therefore have to swap lanes halfway round. It's all about the time taken so you can come second in your race but still beat someone who came first in theirs.
