I'd argue that someone feeling the need to do handjobs to everyone they don't like is more silly.

Town were playing Villa in the premier league, I had a single ticket very adjacent to the corner flag, villa had a corner Merson placed the ball ( his addiction problems were still fresh in the mind) I raised the point as loud as I could that 'I bet you would love a beer Paul' I am ignored.

The account said that the fan has gone to them as a lawyer for advice on how to deal with it, the fact he has done so anonymously and they aren't naming club strikes me as less of a publicity stunt or attempt to get a bit of fame.
When things like this happen, you generally think the worst of football clubs though....

Could it not just be due dilligence by the club to check the offence wasn't racist/ homophobic or whatever?
Is it the fan who "expects to be banned" or is it direct from the club?
The whole thing is completely ridiculous of course and shouldn't have been given air.
However the grown men, and women I assume, who do this for every throw, corner or free kick near the touchline are a complete embarassment. Especially because you know that it's every single time from them and they revel in it, as if it's the wittiest thing in the world.
