Blue Action Coach Greeting Ahead of Huddersfield
Wednesday, 1st May 2024 18:32

Town independent supporters group Blue Action are are staging another of their coach greetings ahead of Saturday’s vital home game against Huddersfield Town at Portman Road.

Blue Action similarly called on fans to gather ahead of the 6-0 hammering of Exeter which confirmed promotion from League One last May and the East Anglian derby with Norwich City earlier in this campaign.

Following last night’s brilliant 2-1 win at Coventry, the Blues need only a point from Saturday’s game against the effectively relegated Terriers to return to the Premier League after 22 years away.

Carpe diem - seize the day, my friends. Days such as these are few and far between. Embrace and enjoy. Not one of us expected to be here now. No matter what the result is, as Kieran regularly points out, it's the journey that counts. Life is too short not to be positive. COYB!

It's so easy to knock something than to create something yourself. For those that are saying it is a bad idea then don't attend, go to the fanzone, pub or whatever - for those that want it then enjoy. There will be some of you who moan and then take part in it and those of you are the worst ones!

It is unlikely to add additional pressure to the team and this would not go ahead if MA and KMcK didn't think it was a good idea.

You have a choice so thank BA and the club for that.

I'd be in favour of this if it was presented as a celebration of an amazing season in the Championship. If it turns into a vainglorious attempt at a march towards the Premier Greed count me out.

trncbluearmy - you keep posting but are not reading what others are actually saying. This is about pre match routine and prep.
It is not about 'loud' it is about 'when', so stupid sarcasm about sitting quietly just shows you are no engaging the issue.
When you write it is about 'in your faces' you have inadvertently explained it to yourself. In whose faces? Do you seriously think that it helps a player to have fans 'in your face'? Why to they listen to music on earpieces if loud 'in your face' fans helps them prepare more?
You are spectacularly missing the point.

As a ITFC supporter of 50+ years i believe i can see both sides here,
I am thinking a lot of the Blue Action group are of a different age to me.
This is a team welcome thing and can be a good thing, I don't think the players are bothered one way or the other.
I will always remember the public bus ride from stadium to town centre after winning the UEFA cup in 81, on the bus full of town supporters how very quite it was & trying to get everyone else to sing along.
What I think I am saying is I think sometimes ITFC supporters can be to quite, and sometimes it is good to let your hair down.
What better place than Portman Road, by the time an event on Christchurch Park comes round we will not be on so much of a high.
Rant over, enjoy Saturday everyone however you plan your day to go.

Doesn’t sit well with me. I think if the idea is to show our support for a fantastic team effort, and I include everyone in that from the Board down, then save it for another day. If it’s us gloating in the fact that the job is done then we should know better.
I’m not sure if the Huddersfield team would even be aware of it, but I think it indicates a lack of respect to them. We’re better than that.

Blue Action should be praised rather than berated for their persistent passionate support for the club. Young fans are the future life blood of this club, and they don't need shooting down by old folk. I would never expect young lads to behave exactly as old folk want them to. Let them have their fun, these are rare moments and they've been there and endured same dross we've all been through over the last decade or so.

Gcon. I agree. If the outside World interpret this as a pre-emptive celebration of a result in a game that would not have taken place at that time then more fool them. Clearly it is a show of support and enthusiasm. I didn't go to Hull or Coventry but have no doubt that many, many fans were lined up by the players' entrance at the stadiums to meet the team coach and players in the same ethos. If that was acceptable, then so is this, just a bigger and better version before a critical game, and if, at the end of Saturday we have not got the result needed I won't be the slightest bit emabassed that this coach welcome by Blue Action has taken place. If people don't want to embrace they don't have to.

Not really sure....can see points for both sides of this debate. Only 1 way to sort this.....Ask KMK. Get his opinion and whatever he says.....goes. He's the boss and whatever he wants....he should get.

To all that say this is not aimed towards promotion party before we've actually got the point needed.....why does the main picture state "Roar them onto the Premier League" and not "show your appreciation for the Blues"then.? I know...getting petty now isn't it.!!

It’s a NO from me! It totally back fired against Norwich!! We need to stop acting like we’ve won already

So I have a question for those in favour of this, if we fall short on Saturday and end up in the playoffs are we going to greet the coach for the first leg of the playoffs? Let’s do it for every game shall we, then it will lose all meaning ! This as I have already said may not be the last game, by carrying out this debacle it suggests that we believe this is the last game and comes over as arrogant on our part! The timing of this is wrong , we will have plenty of time to celebrate if it goes well! We might have another 3 games, can’t for the life of me imagine why anybody with a scrap of intelligence feels before the game is the proper time to celebrate!

Mattin London. What a daft comment. How are those saying this is a bad idea, suggesting we should all stay quiet in thd ground. The whole point of what theyre saying is that it should be saved for inside the ground.
Mckenna said on Tuesday night, that they would be approaching and preparing for this game, in exactly the same way they do for every other game. But blue action think its the right thing to do to change that completely. And no doubt, if, God forbid we should fail, thry ll be the 1st one's slagging the team off.

kpblues added 13:54 - May 2
Not sure I understand the negative comments on here.

The last greeting was attended by old, young, disabled, all genders so comments on this being a blue action only event is ridiculous. There were probably about 2-3 thousand there last time.

As to the clubs feelings Mark Ashton and one of the gamechanger board had a walkabout during the greeting.

KCK will ensure that the players are prepped and ready. They are potential premier players so should look forward to the big games and pre/during/post atmosphere.

By the way I am 60+ and well educated so not a silly little boy either!

For the risk averse supporters try and be positive please!

Come on let everybody enjoy the day.

They do not come around very often.

COYB!

Don't want to spoil people's fun but the last time v Norwich
Had to jump out of the way from a baying mob that looked quite hostile looking for trouble and all the rubbish around Rusell Road was disgusting. Who paints there face going to a football match its not braceheart! Hooe everyone behaves in what we hope is sure to be a momentous occasion what a two years we have witnessed.

slade1 added 14:59 - May 2
finidi, I have to agree with you.
They did look quite ridiculous with their silly face paintings acting looking like some kind of mobsters lol
They looked like nursery school kids thinking they were the mafia!!

Yes we are going to greet the team if we are in the Play-offs but it won't be the 1st leg but the 2nd as we are ensured a third place finish as a minimum. Those with such negative comments are the people who are making it more likely that it will be a play-off rather than automatic promotion. I didn't see anyone with painted faces it was just the residue from the flares etc. Blue Action deserve some credit for improving the atmosphere. They are mostly young and yes, with perhaps some self interest and ego but give them a break. For the last time it is NOT a celebration but a show of support. My last post on this as I've no intention of spending the rest of my life doing it, so for the last time, it is a show for support, NOT A CELEBRATION OF A RESULT IN A GAME THAT HAS NOT TAKEN PLACE - not that I will be in it as my asthma and smoke don't mix but am sure some comments on here don't reflect the majority view of the fans.

Absolute state of the people on here moaning lol I bet you are the same people who if you saw this online for a Polish second-tier game you'd be calling them superb fans and brilliant atmosphere etc. It's a great idea to show support to the players especially for people who can't get a ticket and just wanna be involved in the atmosphere and support the players pre-game.

cat added 17:14 - May 2
So whatever happened to the sentence “the supporters are the twelve man”. Drum up support, get the atmosphere bubbling and roar the team onto success, simple ain’t it. Better than sitting there like a bag of nerves which can convey to the players imo!

What has singing our hearts out out in the ground got to do with this bus greeting.? Two totally separate things.
Ivor Feeling. Mckenna, stated after the norwich game that it was a distraction to the players. Surely we all want the players minds on the game. A game which as he said on Tuesday, they've ill be preparing for, as they do, any other game. So while I'm not totally against these greetings, can't fans see it's not what is wanted by the club. Or, it seems, by the vast majority of fans who are commenting on this subject.

Blues1 like you I attend games and surely you can see the value Blue action bring to the match day experience. Build the atmosphere before the game has been done on many occasions and it works imo. Some posters on here are getting confused thinking it’s a pre match promotion celebration which in itself is iffy and can bite you on the ass! Enjoy the whole day! Roll on Saturday whatever the outcome.

BTW if it’s so against club protocol then why’s it being advertised on here

Don't see much evidence of Blue Action welcoming the team coach at away games. Might be an idea for next season?
